PATROL
Patrolling members please familiarise yourself with the Patrol Member Expectations document below. Be sure to check your patrol start and finish times. It is important that you inform your Patrol Captain ASAP if you are unable to attend a rostered patrol. If you fail to attend a rostered patrol without notifying your Patrol Captain beforehand you will lose your active member access to the club until you attend another patrol. Bronze Medallion Course
Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) Course
Delivery: Blended; eLearning (to be completed prior to course) + 21.5 hrs face-to-face training.
Prerequisites: Current financial member; 13yo by time of assessment; Can swim 200m in 5min or less.
Description: Provides participants with basic patrolling and surf awareness knowledge, enabling participation in basic lifesaving patrol activities
Expiry: 31 December each year. Complete annual skills maintenance to maintain currency.

Inflatable Rescue Boat Crew (IRBC)
4-6 January, 2025
Delivery: Blended; eLearning (to be completed prior to course) + 20 hrs face-to-face (includes 8 hrs practical demonstration in the IRB). Conducted over at least 3 separate days.
Prerequisites: Current financial member; 15yo by time of assessment; Current Bronze Medallion.
Description: Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively crew an IRB in rescue operations.
Expiry: 31 December each year. Complete annual skills maintenance to maintain currency.

Inflatable Rescue Boat Driver (IRBD)

Delivery: Blended; eLearning (to be completed prior to course) + 31.5 hrs face-to-face (includes 12 hrs practical demonstration in the IRB). Conducted over at least 5 separate days.
Prerequisites: Current financial member; 17yo by time of assessment; Current Bronze Medallion & IRC Crew; Current Victorian Marine Licence.
Description: Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to drive an IRB in rescue operations effectively.
Expiry: 31 December each year. Complete annual skills maintenance to maintain currency.

Silver Medallion Patrol Captain
7-8 December, 2024
11-12 January, 2025 (at Kennett River)
Delivery: Blended; eLearning (to be completed prior to course) + 16 hrs face-to-face training.
Prerequisites: Current financial member; 17yo by time of assessment; Current Bronze Medallion + one other patrolling award; 2 years of patrolling experience.
Description: Provide the skills, knowledge, and experience to manage a beach in emergency and non-emergency situations. Required for all Patrol Captains.
Expiry: 31 December each year. Complete annual skills maintenance to maintain currency.

Side-by-side Vehicle (SSV/ATV)

Delivery: 4 hrs face-to-face training.
Prerequisites: Current financial member; 18yo by time of assessment; Current Drivers Licence.
Description: Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to operate an SSV safely and effectively for lifesaving purposes.
Expiry: 31 December each year. Complete annual skills maintenance to maintain currency.

Advanced Resuscitation Techniques / First Aid (ART/FA)
1 September, 2024
2-3 January, 2025
Competency Units: HLTAID009, HLTAID010, HLTAID011, HLTAID015
Delivery: Blended; eLearning (to be completed prior to course) + 8.5 hrs face-to-face training.
Prerequisites: Current financial member; 15yo by time of assessment.
Description: Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to manage an emergency first aid situation until professional support arrives AND the skills and knowledge to use oxygen therapy, oxygen resuscitation, suction and major bleed equipment in an emergency situation.
Expiry: 3 years from assessment date. Complete annual skills maintenance for HLTAID015. Complete entire course every 3 years. Complete HLTAID009 annually.

SKILLS MAINTENANCE (REQUAL)
9-11am or 1-3pm, 3 November 2024
Members who hold the minimum of either Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate are required to undertake Skills Maintenance (Requal) yearly. This training allows participants to gain and maintain valuable life saving and personal development skills.
Part 1 - E-learning
Before enrolling in any courses please ensure that you are a current financial member https://www.apollobayslsc.com.au/membership/
The e-learning includes – Rescue Water Craft Operator Certificate (RWC); Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC); Bronze Medallion; Radio Operator Certificate; Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART); Inflatable Rescue Boat Crew (IRBC) and Inflatable Rescue Boat Driver (IRBD).
Login to the LSV Members Training Portal by visiting https://mt.lsv.com.au/skill_maintenance. Your login details will be the same as for your SLSA Members Area Account.
> Go to SKILLS MAINTENANCE
> Then go to COMPLETE E-LEARNING
> Enrol in and complete all the e-learning modules relevant to you.
Note – if you hold a Bronze Medallion, you do not need to complete Radio or SRC as the Bronze Quiz will cover them.
Part 2 - Practical Session
Using the same LSV Members Training portal portal as above for e-learning https://mt.lsv.com.au/skill_maintenance/ book into a Skills Maintenance practical session.
Find a Skills Maintenance session at a date and location that suits you.
Please bring along a copy of your Drivers Licence, IRB Drivers please bring along your Marine Licence (for IRB Drivers) and Working with Children Check (for members 18yo and over).
After completion of the practical session ensure that you have completed the Skills Maintenance Card and give it to the Apollo Bay SLSC Chief Training Officer, or if you complete your Skills Maintenance at another club send a copy to training@apollobayslsc.com.au.
Resuscitation (CPR)
We would like every patrolling member to hold the Resuscitation (CPR) qualification (HLTAID009). If you don’t have this, or it is about to expire (it only lasts 12 months), book into a course that is running at the same time as the Skills Maintenance session that you have booked into.
